Q. I am looking for hosts. How can HomestayWeb help me?
When you become a member as a Guest, you can benefit in the following ways:
1. You can search for host families in the area you are planning to visit.
2. You can see host families' profiles and *send emails to them.
3. You can write your requirements on the "Message Board" and wait for *emails from a host family who are interested in you.
*In order to send emails or to receive them, you or the other need to purchase the Premium-Passport. You can get it anytime after you become a free member.

Q. I found a host family. What do I do next?
First, you need to contact them. You can send emails to them by clicking the "Contact us" button down below the host family's profile page. The host family will receive your email directly and they will reply to you, if they are interested in you. Through exchanging emails, you may talk to them and decide on date or how to pay and any other issues.

Q. I cannot push the [Send] button and cannot send an email. Why is that?
To send emails or to receive them, either the guest or the host family need to purchase the Premium-Passport. Go to your member page and purchase it. Once you have purchased the Premium Passport, you are able to send emails to ALL host families.

Q. What does the star icon mean?What does the Premium-Passport mean?
The star icon indicates the member who has purchased the "Premium-Passport". Once the guest has purchased the "Premium-Passport", he/she can send emails to ALL host families on the host family listing whether the host family has the the "Premium-Passport" or not.
If you are guest that has NOT purchased the "Premium-Passport", you can only contact the host families that have purchased the "Premium-Passport".

Q. I have purchased a Premium-Passport, but I do not need it anymore. Can I have some money refunded?
Once you purchase the "Premium-Passport", we cannot refund any payment under any circumstances. When the expire date comes, it will be cancelled automatically.

Q. I sent emails to some host families but they did not reply to me. What should I do?
If you do not receive a reply from the host family within a few weeks, it means the host family is not available at the moment, so you should contact another host family.
*We are sorry but we cannot guarantee that all host families will reply to your email or not.

Q. How do I make use of the "Message Board"?
On the "Message Board", You can post your requests to the potential host families such as question about the price for their homestay.
You will receive emails from some host families who are interested in you. You can reply to those emails directly if you want to talk to them.

Q. Can I send money to a host family through the HomestayWeb website?
Some "Premium-Passport" host families have the PayPal button on the profile page. Through this button you can send money to the host familes. However, this is through the PayPal Service. Homestay Web is not involved in the money transaction between the guests and hosts.
*HomestayWeb has stopped accepting the deposit service as of April 2006.

Q. Are the host families listed here interviewed or screened?
No. However, Homestay Web is a website to help match homestay people and
hosts.
HomestayWeb is not responsible nor endorses any of the information placed
by hosts in their profile pages on this website. Please judge wisely
in choosing your homestay family.

Q. Should I purchase travel insurance?
Yes. Make sure you purchase adequate insurance to cover all eventualities eg. illness, accidents, theft.

Q. I resistered as a Homestay Web member but I cannot log in. Why is that?
Did you get the confirmation email from us? If you didn't, it's possible
your email program mistakenly identified that as “junk” or “spam”.
Your email account should provide a junk, bulk or spam folder. Check inside
for a message from Homestay Web.
If the confirmation email is inside one of these folders, check your email
software options or settings screen to see if you can add our email address
a "white list" or "safe list" of senders that are never
filtered.
This mostly happen for AOL, Hotmail
and Yahoo mail users.

If you are still having problems logging into our site, you may have your
cookie settings set at too tight of a level.
Please reduce your Security and Privacy Settings to "Medium" if
they are set at a higher level.
In order to see your current settings on IE 6.0, click on Tools and Internet
Options, and then click on the Privacy tabs to view your current settings.

Q. I am trying to register but the "region" does not have any choices available.
We use JavaScript function on selecting "regions" area. Could you check your browser's setting? Please enable your Javascript setting.

Q. Is HomestayWeb a homestay agency? Can you find my host family for me?
No, we are not a homestay agency. HomestayWeb is a notice board for host
families and guests.
You can register on the website, search for host families and post requests
on the message board on your own.
